ABOUT THE FARM

WHO WE ARE

We are Nancy and Katrina, mother/daughter duo, who do our best to do it all ourselves.  Where we can't, we get the happiest of help from our family and friends, namely our husband/Dad and sons/brothers.  Nancy is the primary grower and head-hen of the field, and Katrina is head honcho of sales and marketing and floral design and production, with both helping the other where needed.  Nancy has a diploma and an extensive background in Horticulture and raising children, while Katrina has quickly learned how to listen to her mother, if she wants lunch.

WHAT WE DO

We grow a wide variety of heirloom and specialty cut flowers, as well as a small production of vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers.  We love to experiment and try new varieties, and we have a strong desire to learn; this means there is always something new in our fields and gardens, but we are continually focused on perfecting our stand-by favourites.  We find it hard to agree upon a condensed list of our current favourite flowers to grow, but here is our best attempt -- Tulips, Narcissus, Allium, Muscari, Peonies, Leucojum, Ranunculus, Anemones, Cosmos, Corncockle, Lisianthus, Violas, Lavender, and, fine, I will put Sunflowers in for you, Mom. ;)

HOW WE DO IT

We are not certified organic but maintain organic practices.  We have a heavy focus on integrated pest management and healthy soil building and composition.  We, often, get asked if we use pesticides.  We like to joke that we use the squoosh method (eee) and fly swatters, but the short answer is that we do not use any chemical pesticides.  Our focus is the soil and building our success from the ground up.  In order to promote a rich, healthy environment in which to grow, we use healthy compost and compost tea, soil microbes, leaf mould (gold),  fish emulsion and kelp.

WHERE TO FIND OUR FLOWERS

We sell our flowers to the public through our CSA Subscriptions and our farm-stand, and at local farmers' markets and the odd pop-up or collaboration with other local businesses.  We, also, sell wholesale to local florists; check our Find Our Flowers Page to see what shops and small businesses carry our flowers, and follow us on Instagram to see where we will be next!

WHEN YOU CAN FIND THEM

Located in a Zone 5, with a little help from an unheated hoop house, our growing season runs from mid-March to November.  In November, we shift our focus to the upcoming holidays and weave our way into the wreath season.
